Some Words for My Girl

If you’d let me, I’d count your freckles—each kiss print from the sun—I’d connect the dots of constellations tattooed on your alabaster skin—a magic map to be deciphered by the moonlight. You are the cosmos in human form—all-encompassing and beautiful beyond description. When I’m with you, I am energized; positivity radiates from your being, and in your eyes, I see the universe and the purpose for life. You are the solar system I was meant to bring forth, my darling girl—a part of you is an angel singing on high in the dark of outer space. I am blessed to be your mother. I am in awe of you. So sometimes I stare, because to look upon you is to see that some sort of divinity does exist. You are perfection to me, and I love you. I love you endlessly, my daughter, and you will always be the pinnacle of my life.

    Kindra, I so enjoy the way you write and have read you before, in some collaborative emails. Your work shines and sets you apart. This is how I discovered Basilike as well.
    Pardon me if I do not follow you just yet for I am time constrained and I see you reblog other writers often …. there is no way I could keep up.
    I’m selfish like that, I’ll have to work harder and find your original work on my own.

  4. I don’t like this. I LOVE IT!! Your daughter is beautiful and I love her red hair. I am of Scottish descent – my mother was a Lindsay and had red hair, which she passed on to my older brother. I, on the other had, got my dad’s “losing my hair” gene, lol. 🙂

    1. Thank you so much! Nicole is beautiful inside and out. She is truly the kindest person I’ve ever known. She teaches me every day about love and peace. I believe she’s an old soul, wise beyond her years. I am truly blessed. ❤

  7. I feel that way (generally) about all my kids. My daughter… she’s so smart and has so much potential, and I hope she gets to realize it. I hope she knows I love her. I certainly tell her. And my sons.
    You obviously have a warm and caring spot for your daughter. You’re a light, and she has some of that light. 🙂
