If Memories Were Fireflies

firefly-lighting-up.jpg.838x0_q80

Girl-child, sun freckled, and blonde

you grew smaller year by year

my lap is too big for you

Girl-child is a woman engaged now

and memories are not fireflies

housed in jars on summer nights

or else I’d have a collection

of endless summers

  1. I really loved the way you blended your imaginative expression with the goodness of your thought that was in perfect harmony with your skillful usage of words! You truly are a world-class wordsmith.
